FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Dick Trammel and his wife Nancy donate $250,000 to aid University of Arkansas cheerleaders. Trammel, a former student at the University of Arkansas, became a cheerleader in 1958. Nearly 60 years later, he serves his community as the executive vice president at Arvest Bank located in Rogers, Arkansas.

Since 1975, he returns to each U of A Homecoming game to Call the Hogs. He said giving back to the program that changed his life forever is something that is important to him. “We are hoping to at least double the size of this scholarship with friends who have been cheerleaders” Trammel said.

The current members of the cheerleading squad continue to be grateful for their incredible alumni support and hope a donation like this will draw more athletes to their program.

U of A senior cheerleader Dylan Cook said “I think just people knowing that we have alumni that still care about us so much and to give us that much it is just going to drive people to this program.”

The scholarship will be divided into one-year scholarships to provide support for those “who need just a little bit of help” Trammel said.
