City of Fayetteville Launches ‘Help a Neighbor Fund’

By Cate Skinner

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The City of Fayetteville launches a Text-To-Give program. This program will benefit the homeless community and low-income residents.

Street signs will begin to be placed in the city’s busiest intersections to promote the fund. These signs will have information on how to donate to the fund. The signs also state a help line phone number to call. This help line will assist residents in the basic needs of housing, food, and medical attention.

The city of Fayetteville’s Community Resource Director Yolanda Fields said, “There was a really great need to help individuals because although we do have a lot of great agencies and churches that help, resources seem to run out early on in the year.”

Residents who have a mobile phone and looking to help the community can simply text FAY to 50155 to donate. All proceeds go straight back to the community and help assist with homeless and low-income needs.

The program will be overseen by the City’s Community Resource Devision and is administered by Hark at the Center for Collaborative Care.
