FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-Fire safety week started earlier this week. The Fayetteville Fire Department will be encouraging the public to help prevent wildfires through their upcoming events.
The Fire Department will be hosting a family safety fair to inform the public on steps on how to avoid wildfires.
“The number one thing in preventing wildfires from getting to a home is to keeping brush and undergrowth away from your house” said Jeremy Ashley, of the Fire Marshal office.
Brochures and handout will be available.
The public will have the chance to ride a fire truck, squirt the fire house, and have a tour of the smoke house.
The Fire Department will also be having their annual Hero Half Marathon. The marathon raises money for organizations that meet important community needs and increase finesses opportunities. The events will promote making Fayetteville and Arkansas a great place to live, work, and play.
The fair will be on Sunday, October 14th from 9 a.m – 12 p.m. at the Walton Art Center parking lot.
