FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – The Razorbacks named Cole Kelley as the starting quarterback to open the season at home against Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
The main question going into the season was, “Who will start under center?” Razorback head coach Chad Morris answered that question today.
Look for Kelley to come out with high energy and motivation to take what is now his team to the next level.
The 6-foot 7-inches tall quarterback went 2-2 in his four starts after starting quarterback Austin Allen injured his arm in 2017.
Kelley completed 87 passes on 151 attempts for 1,038 yards, with eight touchdowns and four interceptions.
So, what put Kelley above Ty Storey in the race for starting QB? It’s simple–Kelley has more game time experience than Storey.
However, that doesn’t mean Storey will never see the field. Don’t expect him to start, but also don’t be surprised to see him at anytime during the game if Kelley is not playing up to Morris’s standards.
You can watch the match-up Saturday at 3 p.m. on the SEC Network.
