Art Exhibit Sheds Light on Sexual Assault

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – It has long been an argument that a person’s choice of clothing has been a reason for sexual assault and rape.

Most of the time, sexual violence occurs because of the perpetrator’s need to dominate and exert their power over the victim.

The educational program STAR Central created the What Were You Wearing? Survivor Art Installation exhibit in 2003, which has caught national attention from publications such as CNN and ABC News.

The exhibit portrays outfits that student sexual assault survivors were wearing when they were attacked.

Students can visit the exhibit until Friday, April 27th in the Arkansas Union.
