Substance Abuse Awareness Week Kicks Off

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Razorback Action Group has organized the first ever university wide Opioid and Substance Abuse Awareness Week from, April 23-28.

The opening ceremony of the week will feature Arkansas Lt. Governor Tim Griffin, Washington County Judge Joseph Wood, Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan, along with many other elected campus representatives.

The week will feature many promotional events at the Union Mall to bring awareness to students. The Razorback Action Group also intends to visit with every greek life organization about the effects of substance abuse.

A discussion panel will be moderated by Arkansas Drug Director Kirk Lane on Thursday, April 26th at 5 p.m. in the Reynold’s Auditorium.

Friday April 27th, the University of Arkansas Police will host a Drug-Take-Back from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the campus police headquarters. The Drug-Take-Back provides an opportunity for anyone in the community to drop off any unused prescription drugs with no questioning.
