LYNWOOD, California — A Californian McDonalds physically flipped its arches for a day to make a giant ‘W’  in honor of International Women’s Day.

The statement of the flipped golden arches is a brand move promoting the international companies support of gender equality. The mayor of Lynwood posted a picture of the upside down arches to his Instagram in support of McDonalds pursuit of gender equality.

McDonald’s released a statement on Twitter saying, “In the U.S. we’re proud to share that six out of 10 of our managers our women”. Chief Diversity Officer of McDonalds, Wendy Lewis, also said in a statement, “We have invested in Archways to Opportunity, which provides tuition assistance, academic advising services, English language courses and more”.

Over 100 more locations will celebrate the day as well by wearing altered uniforms in support of the companies stance on gender equality.
