FAYETTEVILLE, Ark- Some people restrict dreams to their bed, while others pursue dreams with the intention of making them a reality. Sydney Mulvenon, a Fayetteville High student, took it upon herself to use the Lemke Journalism Project to pursue a dream.
Mulvenon said, “I’ve been sideline reporting, commentating. Getting that experience at the high school and now realizing my dream could become a reality someday.”
Her dream? Mulvenon wants to become a sideline reporter for ESPN. She wants to utilize the skills she has learned at the LJP to take a step closer to her goals.
Another LJP student Josh Pineda believes that he learned valuable skills that will benefit him in the workplace. He said, “Getting your name out there is everything. If you stand in the shadows nobody is really going to know who you are.”
For Mulvenon, the experience is invaluable. She knows at the end of the day, It’s up to her to get better.
“You don’t have to prove nothing to nobody except yourself. and through these past few years I’ve been working so hard to prove to myself I can be in the sports world, and I can do these jobs.
The Lemke Journalism project meets only once more this year, but interested participants can contact the journalism office at the beginning of the year next year.
