FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Pat Walker Health Center has teamed up with the Washington County Health Unit to host a flu vaccine clinic. The event will take place Friday, Feb. 16 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Arkansas Union Food Court. Bring your insurance card if you have one and remember it’s not too late to get vaccinated.
Cases of the flu continue to spread across campus and Pat Walker is currently out of vaccination stock. Health Center officials stress the importance of personal prevention and encourage anyone who hasn’t received the shot yet to attend.
Since Oct. 1, 2017, more than 43,000 positive flu tests have been recorded in Arkansas alongside 140 deaths this season alone. The sickness is reported as “widespread” activity by the Arkansas Department of Health.
The University reminds students to practice good hygiene. Avoid close contact with those infected, cover up coughs and sneezes, and clean surfaces that are frequently used.
