The UofA Art Department received $120 million gift from the Walton family. The gift is the largest ever to be given to a U.S. university to support an art program. Jeannie Hulen, Chair of the Art Department, said this gift will have a wide ranging impact.
“It’s not going to just impact us but will also impact the campus in collaborative
programming and interdisciplinary classes that are disciplinary degrees,” said Hulen. “This will expand
our reach and be able to partner on campus and off campus.”
The art school development will be phased over a 5-year period and will factor in approvals necessary for developing degree programs. This gift creates the first and only accredited collegiate school of art in Arkansas.
