The second phase of construction has begun for College Ave. between Maple St. and North St.
The construction is going to give the west side of College Ave. the same appearance as the east side that was finished in late 2016.
Assistant transportation manager Keith Shreve said the sidewalk will look much better with its new features.
“Adding street lighting, adding street trees just generally making it much safer and easier to walk along college avenue, ” he said.
Along with lighting and trees the sidewalk will be 10 ft. wide, and bury some overhead power lines.
With all the new construction coming there will be a temporary setback. One lane of traffic will be closed from 6 a.m. -4 p.m. every week day until the sidewalk is competed.
Shreve said to expect traffic delays during work hours.
“Bear with us while we are doing construction and we think we will have a great product when we are done,” he said.
The sidewalks are being funded by the transportation bond fund that the voters approved.
