Kimpel Hall is like any other building at the University of Arkansas, but it is the people that make it unique.
The communication department on the fourth floor is working to give the building some personality, one story at a time.
“We go after students faculty and staff and we just want to know what they have going on,” said Humans of Kimpel Hall writer Kydrika Myles.
Humans of Kimpel Hall is a monthly article meant to highlight communications students.
The department started the series this October to share their students with the rest of the community.
“So they get to know a little bit more about the student, they get to know a little bit more about the specific department and ultimately we always have people reach out to us asking if they can be the next feature for the next month,” said Myles.
The first human of Kimpel Hall, Kynzee Smith, said that the series does more for students than just share fun facts.
“We live in a world and we are not the only people in the world obviously we have to deal with other people and communicate with other people and so it is important that we understand them and that we understand their opinions and there is a reason they have those opinions,” said Smith.
Myles agrees that readers have a lot to gain from leaning about other people. “It may inspire someone else to start going to the gym start, hiking start going to library a little bit more,” she said.
The November edition of Humans of Kimpel Hall is out now and can be found on the communication department’s social media accounts.
