The 11th annual Plaza de las Americas will kick off Hispanic Heritage Month Thursday, Sept. 22 with music, dancing and food from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Union Verizon Ballroom.
The event is in celebration of Latin American culture in Arkansas and will feature fluent Spanish-speaking students to practice Spanish with participants of the event as well as booths to provide information about the various cultures south of the border.
Since 2005, Plaza le las Americas has been an important event to the Hispanic community in Northwest Arkansas.
The event is sponsored by the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures, the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education, the Office of International Students and Scholars, University Housing, the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange, Spring International Language Center, La Oficina Latina, the University of Arkansas Hispanic Heritage Month Committee and New Student and Family Programs.
