Friends and family are still grieving after the loss of a local pilot and community member. Jan Sudduth, of Cave Springs, met Rex Grimsley more than 20 years ago.

She says he was a man of many virtues.

“I don’t think there is one word that you could use to describe rex because he so many things he cared lot about people,” Sudduth said.

Grimsley was a former teacher and an entrepreneur. Sudduth also said he genuinely cared about others.

“Rex was a very down to earth person and although he was very successful in his buissnes he never met a stranger, he cared about people, and valued what people had to say,” Sudduth said.

Grimsley had his pilots liceanse for over 10 years and was always eager to take friends and family on flights in his air plane.

“Rex called my dad and said, ‘Tommy I’m getting my pilots license… I’m not quite done yet but when I get it I want to take you up and my dad said well take your time because I’m not ready to fly yet,’”Sudduth said.

Sudduth says the healing process will take time… but for now – she’s focusing on the legacy of her friend.

“He will be truly missed,” Sudduth Said.
