The Drawing and Painting Association hosts contemporary artists Rachel Hayes and Eric Sall for a lecture on their work in Old Main’s Giffels Auditorium at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31. There will be a question and answer period afterward.
Eric Sall is an abstract painter who received his M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006, and has exhibited work extensively while attending several artist residencies in New York, New Mexico, and Missouri. Primarily working in large-scale, Sall creates paintings that take on sculptural elements.
Rachel Hayes is an installation/mixed media artist who also received her M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has traveled as a visiting artist to universities in New York, Ohio, Vermont, and New Mexico, and has attended various artist residencies across the country. Often comprised of fabric and vinyl, Hayes’ large-scale installations explore the relationships between “feminine” and “masculine” through the material.
