ATKINS, Ark. — One person was killed after severe storms hit Pope County this morning. According to the Pope County Sheriff’s Department, 18-year-old woman was killed after straight line winds caused a tree to fall on her home.
Four other people were inside the house. An 18th month old toddler was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Atkins Police Department, Pope County Deputies, Atkins Fire Department and Pope County EMS and Rescue were dispatched to the residence in the 3200 block SR 247 at 7:49 a.m.
The storm system included damaging winds of up to 75 miles per hour and large hail.
