President Obama addressed the nation Sunday evening during a national broadcast from the Oval Office. The President officially announced that the massacre in San Bernardino, California last week was an act of terrorism. The couple that conduced the killings had in the President’s own words, “gone down the dark path of radicalization,” and embraced a “perverted version of Islam.”
Many politicians in Washington have blamed the President for his “weak” handling of the U.S. threat of terrorism but Obama reassured the nation the United States will be aggressive in the fight against ISIS, “the threat from terrorism is real but we will overcome it. We will destroy ISIL and any other organization that tries to harm us.”
President Obama also used the address to urge stricter gun laws in the United States saying that it was too easy for guns to get into the hands of the wrong people.
“What we can do and must do, is make it harder for them to kill.”
