FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – The flu can be a serious thing. It can lead to hospitalization and even death. The dreadful season starts as early as October and can last as late as May. Collier Drug Store, which is conveniently located on Dickson Street, has the vaccine available.
Pharmacist Trenton Dunn says the Collier has two forms of the flu vaccine available.
“We do quite a bit more of the shots than we do the nasal sprays”, said Dr. Dunn, “However, we do have them for those of you who just don’t wanna get the shot.”
It has not been confirmed of the severity of this season’s flu, but Ifesinachi Egbosimba won’t take any chances.
“I am a firm believer in prevention. Every year people die from getting the flu and I don’t wanna be one of those people. It’s something that’s super easy, super quick, it doesn’t really hurt that much,” said Egbosimba.
Although some people are not in favor of flu shots, Doctor Dunn encourages everyone to get vaccinated.
“I can’t really think of too many cons outside of maybe having a sore arm and you might run a little bit of a fever the next day. But the benefits greatly outweigh it. Just not getting the flu is pretty great in itself. Considering about 200,000 people get it [the flu] a year,” said Doctor Dunn.
The Collier Drug Store said they will continue to give flu vaccinations until the demand stops.
