Starbucks Stirs Up Conflict

The multi-billion dollar Starbucks brand has come under fire this week. The company changed their new holiday cups, from having snowflakes and ornaments to a simple red design. Starbucks Vice President Jeffrey Fields said, “the company wanted usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories.”

But some Starbucks lovers suggested this week that the new cup change was direct attack on Christianity. One blogger and Pastor, Joshua Feuerstein accused the company of “hating Jesus” this week when he posted a video that has gone viral. With 10 million views so far and pending, Feuerstein asks his followers to say “Merry Christmas,” instead of their names so that baristas have to write the phrase on the holiday cups.

Fields fired back at the accusations saying the company, “tries to create a culture of belonging, inclusion and diversity.”
