After a disappointing pair of losses to the University of Central Oklahoma last weekend (4-1 (ENG) & 4-2 (ENG)), the Division I Razorback Men’s Hockey team hits the road for a four game swing through the state of Colorado. The challenging slate begins on Friday, October 16, with a rematch against WCHL foe #12 Colorado. The two teams last met two weeks ago at the Jones Center when the Buffaloes defeated the Razorbacks by 4-1 (ENG) and 9-3 scores. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 pm MST.
From there, the DI Razorbacks move to Littleton, Colorado, to take on Division III Metro State on Saturday night at 9:45 pm MST. The two teams’ only meeting took place last year to start the season at the Jones Center when Metro State beat the Hogs 6-3 on night one and then skated to a 4-4 tie on night two.
On Sunday, Arkansas takes on DII University of Northern Colorado. The two teams have met just once before—last November at the Dordt-hosted “Clash of the Corn” tournament when the Hogs notched a 2-0 win over the Bears behind two power play goals. Puck drop on Sunday night is 8:45 pm MST.
Finally, before heading home, the Hogs again return to play Colorado in the final meeting between the two teams for the 15-16 season. Colorado enters the pair of games undefeated, having just notched a 4-1 win over Illinois State last weekend.
Meanwhile, the Division III Razorbacks (7-1-0) return home after having earned a split with Vanderbilt last weekend. After a 2-1 victory on Friday, Arkansas dropped the weekend’s second contest with the Commodore by a 5-0 score. The Razorbacks look to get back on track against a first-time visitor to the Jones Center, Kennesaw State University.
KSU is no stranger to college hockey success, having won a National Championship in 2005. The Owls enter the weekend with an unblemished 2-0-0 record, having earned consecutive victories over the University of Tennessee to start their season. Game times for the DIII Razorbacks are 7:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights.
