Two victims and a suspect were injured from a machete attack Thursday evening on South Razorback Road. The male suspect, Ashley Pettey, was asked by the victims to move his campsite away from the wooded area he was in because he was attracting too much attention.
Pettey, 36, refused to relocate and a verbal disagreement led to a physical altercation. The suspect used an 11-inch machete, straight on the bottom and serrated at the top, to attack the victims.
One victim had life threatening injuries to his neck. The other had traumas to the neck and arm that were not deadly. Both are now stable. Pettey suffered injuries in his eye that were taken care of in the emergency room.
Pettey is charged with battery of the first and second degree and aggravated assault.
