Local governments will no longer be able to make their own anti-discrimination laws.
The House of Local Affairs Committee voted 12 to 6 today in favor of a bill that would stop local governments from creating laws that prohibit discrimination on a basis not stated in state law.
The bill passed the Senate with a 24 to 8 vote on Monday and now heads to the full house for a vote.
If this bill passes, Arkansas will only be the second state with this type of discrimination law.
