Water Pipe Breaks, Dumps 1 Thousand Gallons of Water in Kimpel Hall

Earlier this morning, a water pipe on the fourth floor of Kimpel Hall burst causing water to gush into the building.  Fire officials say the line had been broken for nearly two hours before they were able to shut it off.  This caused 1,550 gallons of water to drip through the ceilings on floors two and three, officials say.  At least fifteen personnel, including firefighters from 3 companies, 2 police departments, and university employees, worked to get most of the water out of the building.  Crews say they got a majority of the water out of the building, but say the maintenance crew still has a lot of work to do.
