The Fayetteville City Clerk’s Office is in the process of verifying a petition to repeal City Ordinance 119. But there’s no telling how long that could take. The law aims to prevent discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation. More than 5,000 signatures were submitted asking for it to be repealed. About 4,100 of those have to be validated to let citizens vote on the law in a referendum. The City Clerk’s Office has been verifying them since Monday night.
