Two Razorbacks have undergone surgeries now that spring ball has wrapped up. Senior cornerback Tevin Mitchel was held out of the Spring Game because of a hamstring injury, but he had shoulder surgery this week. Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema says fans shouldn’t worry about Mitchel’s injury and his subsequent surgery.
“He should be back with us if not the first part of fall camp, very soon there after,” Bielema said. “The doctors are very encouraged. It was a clean surgery, very routine. It’s something that I’ve had a lot of our guys do in the past that shouldn’t be a factor at all.”
The other Razorback to undergo post-spring surgery was sophomore defensive end Brandon Lewis. He had surgery to clean up a pre-existing knee problem. Like Mitchel, Bielema says Lewis’s surgery and rehab shouldn’t be one to worry about.
“I’ll give a lot of credit to B-Lew,” Bielema said. “He’s very tough, keeps it to himself. He doesn’t say a lot to begin with. Even when he’s injured he keeps it even more quiet and was given a little bit of heat down there. It should be a full recovery.”
The Razorbacks will now go through summer workouts as they prepare for the start of fall camp in August.
