Fayetteville Police are warning drivers about a traffic ticket scam. Police are getting complaints from people who received phones calls from a person claiming to be from the Arkansas Department of Traffic and Warrants. The scammer says the victim has a warrant out for their arrest for an unpaid ticket they received from a traffic camera. They’re asked to send the scammer several hundred dollars to pay the fine and avoid the warrant. Fayetteville Police want to inform drivers that cameras at stop lights are used only for controlling the flow of traffic, and that traffic citation cameras are illegal in the state of Arkansas.
