UofA Fraternity Under Fire

U of A fraternity Pi-Kappa-Alpha is under fire after throwing an unregistered, and controversial party. UATV received all the documents in this case including the report released by the U of A division of student affairs and they say that the party was off campus and took place January 20th and the notification of the event was by word of mouth. The documents also says that there was alcohol involved and that seven PIKE officers were at the party including the president of the chapter. The PIKE president denies allegations that the party had a racist theme. According to the Office of Student Standards and Conduct, the fraternity is being charged with a violation of the Code of Student Life. UATV also obtained the decision letter written to Pi-Kappa-Alpha which states “Furthermore, although not the basis of the disciplinary charge against the Fraternity, the investigation supports the conclusion that participants in the unregistered party took part in certain themed activities based on disrespectful racial stereotypes that run counter to core values of the University of Arkansas.” Now because of the investigation, renovations of the PIKE house have been put on hold until further notice. Be sure to stay with UATV for continued updates on this developing story.
