Alpha Chi Omega’s fundraiser Walk a Mile in Her Shoes was a big success. Fraternity men on campus signed up to participate in the relay wearing high heels to signify walking in the shoes of women affected by domestic abuse.
One in four women experience domestic violence in their lifetime, according to the National Domestic Violence Hotline. A-Chi-O invited greek life and the community to come out and support their philanthropy this past Sunday. Each fraternity had four members participate in teams at the event. Chapter president Jillian Sharp says one of the main goals of the event is to get more people aware about the issue.
Not only has it helped the chapter as a whole, it’s also helped the individuals within the sorority. Freshman Jessica Janettestahl doesn’t like to re-ilve her past but talking to her sisters has made her stronger.
Philanthropy chair for Fi Gamma Delta, Stuart Hurst says the only time he’s worn heels was playing dress up with his younger sister when they were kids but he’s happy to help others with a passionate cause.
