The Arkansas senate voted to override Governor Mike Beebe’s veto on a bill requiring voters to show photo identification at the polls. Opponents say the bill is unnecessary and would cause problems for the elderly or poor trying to cast their vote. But, supporters say the bill will increase the integrity of elections by deterring voter fraud. If the House overrides the bill, the law will take affect January 1, 2014.
