Fayetteville Sees Increase in Shootings

Fayetteville has seen an increase in shootings in the summer of 2012.

“I’m getting nervous,” said Trent Moser, a student and Fayetteville resident.

“If this continues, I’m not going to feel safe,” Moser said.

Shootings on North Boxley Avenue, Sycamore Street, and Wedington Drive have led to injuries and even death, but it’s something that fellow Fayetteville resident Lance Lloyd isn’t concerned about.

“I feel safe for the most part, as long as it not getting into my neighborhood, or its gang-oriented, or its organized crime, for the most part it’s random,” Lloyd said.

Junior Devin Cook believes while the crime is concerning, he isn’t fearing for his safety yet.

“I don’t think there’s any reason for it, it’s pretty random,” Cook said.
