The University of Arkansas has multiple construction projects in the works on
campus. Completed in March, one of the most recent projects is the UREC Fitness
Center. It is located on the second floor of the student union.

Kristen DeAngelo, Assistant Director of Fitness Center Operations, says the facility
is a great opportunity for students to have another place to workout in between
classes other than the HPER building. In addition to a separate exercise room that is
programmed solely by UREC fitness, DeAngelo says the facility also houses the latest
in high-end fitness equipment.

Bobby Howard, UA senior, says the new facility is in a great location for parking,
and is substantially more convenient than working out at the HPER. Howard enjoys
the low volume of students at the UREC center, and also likes the nice new workout
equipment. Howard bought a summer membership to the gym as a useful and
affordable way to workout during the summer.

Shelby Nolte, UA junior, appreciates the vast amount of cardio equipment provided,
with a low to no wait period for the machines.

The UREC fitness center is open Monday to Thursday 6:00a.m. – 9:45 p.m., Friday
6:00 a.m. – 8:45 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 8:45 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 a.m. – 9:45
