University of Arkansas Broadcast students to televise Miss Arkansas competition live

UATV is pleased to partner for the 2nd year with the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant to televise competition again this year.  Over 20,000 people viewed the pageant online in 2010.  This year UATV will be in Hot Springs from Wednesday through Sunday to broadcast each preliminary night of competition as well as the final night.  In addition the students will be producing some “behind the scenes” packages about the history of the pageant, Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady, and the local contestants themselves.

“We realize that not everyone is able to make it to Summit Arena to watch the pageant live, so we are thrilled that the University of Arkansas students are willing to give up a week of their summer to produce the webcast for us! We have 46 amazing young ladies vying for the title of Miss Arkansas 2011 and the competition is guaranteed to be great in person and online,” says Miss Arkansas Executive Director Jessie Bennett.

Preliminary competitions will be streamed and can be viewed for $5.00 and the final night will be $7.00.  The pageant runs July 13-16. To purchase tickets, visit our Ustream channel (www.ustream.tv/channel/uatvonline-live), and each night can be purchased from that page.

The Miss Arkansas pageant is a preliminary to the Miss America Pageant. Miss America is the largest provider of scholarship to women in the world, making over $45 million dollars available each year.  Each night’s show begins at 7:30 p.m at Summit Arena in Hot Springs.  46 young ladies from across the state will compete for over $75,000 in scholarships and a chance to represent Arkansas at the Miss America pageant. The reigning Miss Arkansas, and first runner up to Miss America, Alyse Eady, will be on hand each night for competition.
