UATV Takes Home Regional SPJ Awards, Advance To Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS – The Society of Professional Journalists announced the Region 12 Mark of Excellence Award winners for the 2010 calendar year. This year, the contest received almost 4,000 entries.

The honorees were awarded certificates on March 27 during the Region 12 SPJ Spring Conference held at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. First place regional winners will advance to the national round of judging. National winners will be announced in early May.

UATV, University of Arkansas Television, received a number of these prestigious awards. Here are a list of the recipients from our station:

UATV went on the air during the fall semester of 1996. UATV is currently broadcasting on Cox Communications Channel 214 in northwest Arkansas, and on Channel 22 on the University of Arkansas campus. UATV programming reach exceeds 100,000 households and worldwide at www.uatvonline.net.

UATV is a 24-hour a day, year round station, with student-produced news, sports, public affairs programs and documentaries originating from studios on the first floor of Kimpel Hall.
