On December 9, 2010, UATV will begin broadcasting on Cox Communications Channel 214 in northwest Arkansas, and on Channel 22 on the University of Arkansas campus. UATV programming reach for these new channels will exceed 100,000 households. UATV went on the air during the fall semester of 1996, in Fayetteville only. Later, the student managed TV station was added to Springdale, and a few years ago, the UATV signal was expanded to into much of northwest Arkansas, but the station shared programming time with Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers Schools.
The “new” UATV will be a 24-hour a day, year round station, with student-produced news, sports, public affairs programs and documentaries originating from studios on the first floor of Kimpel Hall. The station will continue streaming its signal to the world at uatvonline.net.
On Dec. 9, UATV will be hosting an open house from 12-2 p.m. to celebrate the launching of Channel 214, on the 15th anniversary of the first live program that originated from the Kimpel Hall Studio. The public is welcome to attend. RSVP to Robyn Ledbetter@uark.edu.
For more information on this story, contact Faculty Advisors Larry Foley (lfoley@uark.edu) or Ms. Ledbetter.
On or after 12/9/10, UATV programming will be shown on Cox Digital channel 214. If you do not already have a digital converter box and wish to continue receiving this programming, please call Cox at 1-888-249-3774 or visit your local Cox Digital Store for a special promotional offer.
This switch will allow UATV to continue to offer its great lineup of original programming and regional documentaries to a wider audience. Now UATV will be broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to every corner of Northwest Arkansas. UATV will also move channels on the University of Arkansas campus. Students, faculty, and staff can find UATV on channel 22 on campus, starting December 9th. As always, you can watch UATV anywhere with an internet connection at uatvonline.net.
Programming previously found on channels 14, 16 and 18 has moved to the Cox
