Hogs Use Big Day Two To Take Lead in SEC Indoor Championships

The host Hogs tallied 57 points, 30 of which came from one race, and lead 2nd place Georgia by 31 points going into the final day of competition at the SEC Track and Field Championships. The defending SEC champion, Arkansas’ Dorian Ulrey, won the 3,000-meter race easily with a time of 8:00.05. Ulrey led a 1-2-4-5-6 finish for Arkansas in the event.

Ulrey said, “I love being an SEC champion again, it’s all about being a razorback and being able to win here at the Tyson Indoor Track. The most important thing for me is winning as a team, and then being able to represent the razorbacks and the SEC in the NCAA meet. The race was not quite as easy as it looked, but it definitely was not hard either. ” Ulrey made the race look easy as he showed off his uniform and clapped for the fans during the backstretch of his final lap.

Alain Bailey and Tarik Batchelor also racked up points for the Razorbacks by going one and two in the long jump final. Both men set personal bests and Bailey’s jump of 26-9.75 is good enough for 4th on Arkansas’ all-time list.
