University Begins RecycleMania!

The University of Arkansas is competing against colleges and
universities in a national recycling competition. From February 1
through March 27, the university will take part in a contest to find
out who will collect the most recyclable material per person, the
largest total amount of recyclables, the least trash per person, or
have the highest recycling rate. In years past, the University of
Arkansas has won different categories of the competition when matched
against its Southeastern Conference peers.

AMP Announces Spring 2010 Lineup

The Arkansas Music Pavilion announced Wednesday a few of the bands that will be taking the stage in Northwest Arkansas. Some of the acts to kick off the spring season will be Levon Helm and the Cate Brothers, The Georgia Satellites and Blue Oyster Cult, Gary Allen, and MC Hammer. Ongoing Investigation of Officer Involved Shooting

Bella Vista Police say they are still investigating the officer involved shooting following a chase. Cpl. Coleman Brackney shot and killed James Ahern following a chase over three weeks ago.  Ken Farmer, Chief of Bella Vista police, said the department is still investigating whether or not the shooting was justified.

Washington County May Change Sick Leave Plan

Washington County employees may get extra sick leave time.  The county is consider a plan that would change a 15-year policy on sick days.  The new plan would allow employees to earn sick leave twice as fast — meaning for every month on the job employees would get one sick leave day.

PETA Pokes Fun At Duggars

PETA is launching an advertising campaign that pokes fun at the Duggar family.  PETA is posting a billboard that reads “Doggies Multiply Faster Than Duggars. Be Responsible. Always Spay and Neuter.” PETA said the billboard is designed to grab people’s attention and encourage them to get their pets spayed and neuter.

Clinton Leaves Hospital

According to the Associated Press Clinton left the Manhattan hospital where he underwent a heart procedure. Douglas Band said yesterday that Clinton left New York Presbyterian Hospital in excellent health.  Yesterday Clinton had two stints placed in his heart.

Tennis Faces First road match-up this weekend

The No. 17 ranked women’s tennis team will be taking to the road this weekend for their first away match of the spring season as they take on No. 35 Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Saturday. Arkansas (5-1) comes into this match after winning their first five of six matches to open the season, including a doubleheader sweep last weekend against Louisiana-Lafayette and Utah. Tulsa (6-2) is coming off the heels of their second straight loss of the spring against SMU.
