Hello folks! Welcome to our Hog Hoops Blog for today game between the Auburn Tigers (11-11, 2-5) and the Arkansas Razorbacks (10-10, 4-3). Arkansas is in the midst of a three-game winning streak and now find themselves tied for first place in the SEC Western Division with Mississippi State. Thanks for following our blog as we provided live updates throughout today’s game:
12:26 p.m.- Here come the Razorbacks pom squad and cheerleaders and we’re 15 minutes away from today’s opening tip-off. One quick note is that walk-on Nick Mason is dressed out for today’s game for the first time this season.
12:37 p.m.- The starting lineups are in: Arkansas, Washington, Fortson, Britt, Clarke, Powell; for Auburn, Hargrove, Reed, Sullivan, Waller, Lett.
12:47 p.m.- Arkansas wins the tip and we’re underway at Bud Walton Arena.
12:50 p.m.- Michael Washington makes teo free-throws and the Hogs are ahead, 7-5, with 17:40 to play.
12:53 p.m.- Auburn’s back-to-back three give them a one point lead, but a layup by Courtney Fortson allows the Hogs to tie the game, 11-11.
12:57 p.m.- We’ve hit our first timeout at Bud Walton Arena and Auburn leads, 15-13, with 13:38 to play.
1:00 p.m.- Stef Welsh pours in a three, giving the Hogs a 16-15 lead.
1:02 p.m.- Jamel Farmer enters the game during the timeout, and he’s the tenth player to log minutes today for Arkansas he we still have 11:46 to play in the first half. John Pelphrey feeling confident in his bench, and getting his starters extra rest. Auburn leads 19-18.
1:07 p.m.- Auburn making Hogs pay for leaving them open beyond the arc. Tigers are 5-of-9 thus far today, and open up a 25-20 lead.
1:08 p.m.- Welsh drills a trey and is 2-of-2 from beyond the arc with six points off the bench.
1:11 p.m.- Arkansas is a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line today after Fortson’s two, cutting the lead to 31-25 Auburn.
1:13 p.m.- Auburn continues their hot-streak from beyond the arc, shooting 50% 6-of-12 from long range. Tigers lead 36-29 with 6:29 to play.
1:21 p.m.- Fans at BWA aren’t pleased with today’s officiating. Fouls stand at: Auburn 8, Arkansas 5.
1:24 p.m.- Timeout on the floor with 3:58 to play in the first half and Auburn leads, 36-29. We’re in the midst of about a two and a half minute scoring drought by both teams. Last bucket was by Britt at the 6:43 mark.
1:26 p.m.- Welsh ends the scoring drought with two free throws, cutting the Auburn lead to five.
1:27 p.m.- Big defensive stand by Arkansas, and they’re on a 5-0 run as Fortson heads to the free throw line.
1:30 p.m.-Jeff Lebo calls a timeout at the 1:05 mark, and Auburn still leads, 38-34.
1:33 p.m.- Arkansas’ Delvon Johnson gets away with a walk and makes the layup to cut the Auburn lead to, 38-36.
1:34 p.m.-” IT’S HALTIME,” says John George and the Tigers hold a 38-36 lead. Auburn’s Frankie Sullivan leads all scorers with 11 points, while Stef Welsh has eight off the bench to lead the Hogs.
1:51 p.m.- Auburn has possession as the second half is underway.
1:51 p.m.- Arkansas on an early 4-0 run, and lead 40-38, before a layup by Sullivan ties the game again.
1:56 p.m.- Powell makes one of two free throws to give Arkansas a one-point lead.
1:57 p.m.- Bud Walton Arena is going crazy after a three by Rotnei Clarke give the Hogs a 44-40 lead. Clarke has eight points so far in the game.
2:00 p.m.- Arkansas lead is now six points after a nice feed from Marcus Britt to Washington. Hogs are shooting 50% from the field today.
2:07 p.m.– Fortson scores his tenth point of the day giving Arkansas a three-point lead, 47-44.
2:09 p.m.- DeWayne Reed ties to game at 47-47 with a three. He has 13 points today and John Pelphrey wants a timeout.
2:11 p.m.- Tay Waller gives the lead back to Auburn, 50-49, with a trey.
2:13 p.m.-Michael Washington picks up his third foul and the Hogs are starting to play flat. Auburn will be at the line for two after this timeout, and they still lead 50-49.
2:15 p.m.- Auburn can’t miss from beyond the arc, Hargrove drains one from long distance and they’re ahead 54-49 with 10:09 to play.
2:19 p.m.- Powell will pick up his third foul with 9:01 to play and Britt will come in to relieve Clarke.
2:21 p.m.- Washington leaves the floor in pain limping and grabbing his ankle.
2:23 p.m.- Auburn taking advantage with Washington, Fortson, and Clarke all on the bench for Arkansas, but a lay up by Powell cuts the Auburn lead to 56-54, and he’ll shoot a free throw after this timeout.
2:26 p.m.- HUGE defensive stand by Arkansas after Powell makes the free throw. Fortson and Clarke are back in for the Hogs. Fortson makes a scrambling layup and the Razorbacks are back on top, 57-56.
2:30 p.m.- It’s loud in BWA! Powell makes two free throws and Arkansas leads, 59-56, with 5:16 to play.
2:32 p.m.- Clarke nails a three on the kick out from Powell and Arkansas leads 62-58 with 4:08 to play. Powell and Fortson each have 12 pointswhile Welsh and Clarke have 11 a piece.
2:34 p.m.- And Auburn is pay in front after a three by Waller, 63-62.
2:35 p.m.- Auburn has possession and with 9 seconds left on the shot clock we have a timeout on the floor. 2:22 to p lay and the Tigers are ahead, 63-62.
2:37 p.m.- Arkansas control the rebound and has possession with 2 minutes to play, down one.
2:40 p.m.- Waller makes a jumper, very close to being a three. Auburn leads, 65-62, with 1:06 to go in this one. If Hogs drop this game it could be a big disappointment in the middle of their winning-streak.
2:41 p.m.- Brendon Knox fouls out for Auburn after Powell makes the layup. He needs to sink the free throw to tie this one up with 58.3 seconds left.
2:42 p.m.- Powell nails free throw, and we’re all square, 65-65. Auburn calls timeout on inbound.
2:44 p.m.- Fortson comes up with a steal, saves it in to Powell, then nails a driving layup as time winds down on the shot clock. Arkansas ahead 67-65 with 14.1 seconds to play, and it looks as though the Tigers will have the last shot.
2:49 p.m.- Auburn gets cheap bucket after two three-point heaves and we’re headed to overtime tied at 67-67.
2:51 p.m.- Powell gets the first bucket of the overtime, but Sullivan answers with a jumper to tie the game at 69-69.
2:52 p.m.- Powell taking over this overtime. After two Auburn free throws, he tied it up at 71-71.
2:55 p.m.- Fortson drains a three, then an Auburn bucket cuts the Hog lead to one, 74-73, with 1:52 to play.
2:57 p.m.- Fortson nails a jumper and the Hogs find themselves ahead three with a minute to go. Fortson leads all scorers with 19 points.
3:00 p.m.- Fortson is fouled, makes both free throws, then scores a layup after a steal and he has nine straight points in overtime, Hogs lead 80-76.
3:02 p.m.- Rotnei Clarke at the line makes one, and Arkansas is ahead, 81-76.
3:05 p.m.- Welsh makes a turnover by running the baseline on the inbounds, so Auburn inbounds then nails a three. Fortson drains a free throw so now it’s Arkansas 82-79 with four seconds to play.
3:06 p.m.- Last minute heave by Auburn hits the back of the rim and Arkansas escapes, 82-79, and are now in sole possession of first place in the SEC West. Thanks again for following the blog.
