UPDATE- Attempted Robbery and Shooting at Local Bank

UPDATE- The name of the robber has been released, as well as the information that he has died from the gun shot received by an officer of the Fayetteville Police Department. The suspect has been identified as Matthew L. Anderson, 29 of Elkins, Ar. A few more details have been released and can be found in this press release from the City of Fayetteville. The officers gave multiple warnings for Anderson to stop and to show his hands, and he did not. Anderson was wounded at the scene and died later from his injuries at Washington Regional. Chief Tabor has placed one officer on paid administrative leave pending the results of an internal investigation.

FAYETTEVILLE, AR -An armed man was shot after attempting to rob a local Fayetteville bank located one block away from campus. The man approached the Arvest Bank on the corner of North and Garland through the drive thru, demanded money and showed his weapon. The bank teller sounded the alarm and Fayetteville police responded. The officer shot the robber at least once, and the robber was transported to Washington Regional and is in unknown condition.
