Last Play of Arkansas' First Drive

The hogs’ opening drive ending with a punt. South Carolina takes over the ball.

South Carolina’s first drive is currently stopped at the 8 yard line. An almost 71 yard touchdown run was stopped short by Arkansas’ D. South Carolina calls back-to-back timeouts- still on the 8 yard line.

South Carolina gets 1 first down on the 4 yard line. On third down South Carolina doesn’t snap the ball in time and South Carolina is forced to kick a field goal on 4th down. Kick good- South Carolina 3- Arkansas 0

South Carolina kicks the ball out of bounds- Arkansas takes over at the AR 40.

Broderick Green catches the ball for a 39 yd reception. AR on S Carolina’s 18 yd line. Next play- Joe Adams carries it 18 yards into the end zone. Kick good. Arkansas 7 South Carolina 3.

2nd Down and 10 for South Carolina- AR defense looks tired. The 1:24 touchdown run didn’t give the D much of a rest. South Carolina forced to punt. AR offense takes over on the 7 yard line.

DJ Williams catches for a AR first down- 5 yard reception- ball on the 13 yd line. Next play- Mallett sacked for a loss of 10 yds. 2nd and 20 on the 8 yard line. Brings 1st quarter to a close.

End of 1st quarter- Arkansas 7 South Carolina 3

Arkansas attempts a fake punt and failed- South Carolina takes over on downs inside the AR 25.

South Carolina makes it into the end zone for a 1 yd touchdown run. Made AR pay for the failed fake punt. South Carolina 10 Arkansas 7.

First play after kickoff- Michael Smith carries the ball 7 yds. AR 2nd and 3 on AR 43.

Mallett carries 2 yds. AR 4th and 3. AR punting away. Fair catch at 10 yard line. 43 yard punt.

Maddox from South Carolina breaks through the AR defense for a first down. Defense is holding their own but do look tired.

South Carolina is easily breaking through the Arkansas d-line. They look tired.


The defense does their job though- holds South Carolina and makes them punt. 3:47 left in the half.

Mallett passes to DJ Williams for a 69 yd pass play. 1st and goal on 7 yd line. 6 seconds left in the half.

Mallett overthrows on first attempt. Tejada attempts first goal on 2nd down. FG good.

Halftime- tied at 10-10. Knew this game would be close but didn’t think it would be this close. Going into the locker room tied makes for an exciting second half.

Welcome back- South Carolina gets the ball back after the half.

South Carolina breaks through the defense and scores on an 80 yd touchdown- the play took 13 secs. South Carolina 16 Arkansas 10.

London Crawford catches a 18 yd reception for a first down and the crowd goes wild. Next play- Broderick Green pushes [and I do mean push] through the South Carolina defense for a 7 yard gain.

2nd and goal-AR on the 9 yard line Michael Smith runs the ball down to the 1 yard line. 3rd and goal AR comes up just inches short. 4th and goal Arkansas scores. Fireworks go off and everyone around me jumps. Tejada kicks PAT- good. Arkansas 17 South Carolina 16. Scoring drive was 11 plays for 73 yards. Scoring drive time was 5:04.

The best part of the scoring drive [besides the touchdown of couse] was Arkansas was 3 for 3 on 3rd down conversions. The Petrinos will be happy.

The official attendance for today is 68,865.


Jerell Norton intercepts an amazing pass in the end zone. 1st and 20 Arkansas.

On third and six Mallett throws to Greg Childs wide open. Brought down inside the 30 yard line after blowing off a few defenders.

Touchdown Arkansas- Mallett hands the ball off to Broderick Green for a jumping drive into the end zone. Arkansas 24 South Carolina 16.

South Carolina muffs the snap and the ball rolls into the end zone for a safety. Arkansas 26 South Carolina 16.

End of the 3rd quarter. Arkansas 26 South Carolina 16.

Mallett sacked for a 9 yd loss. 3rd and 10. Arkansas forced to punt on 4th and 10.

Arkansas sacked Garcia for a loss. 2rd and 25 on S Carolina 20.

Mallet did well. Very patient. thought it was his best game.

Defense:
We shut down the run in the second half. Started getting to the qb.

On Special Team:
The only mistake in special teams was me calling a fake punt.

On a must win game:
We want to get into games that are a must win and win them. We needed the pressure. And I think we passed the test.
