UPDATE: Dropped Calls a Goner at Razorback Stadium?

For those observant Hog fans, you might have noticed a new addition around Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. No, it’s not in those plans that Jeff Long talked about. This addition looks to improve your game day experience digitally.

AT&T has parked a temporary cell tower across from the stadium and right beside the Alumni House. For all AT&T users, getting your cell phone to have a reliable signal during a Razorback home game was almost as difficult as catching a pass from Mallett against a SEC defense.

We are in the process of getting an official word from AT&T Arkansas spokesperson, Natasha Collins. And when we do, you can look for it here first.

This addition is an important one. How else can we Tweet and text our thoughts on an amazing Joe Adams catch or Michael Smith run if we cannot even get a cell signal? With a stadium branded left and right with the famous globe logo of AT&T, it’s important that their signal is at the highest quality.

UPDATE: We got in touch with the AT&T spokesperson for the state of Arkansas. Natasha Collins said, “AT&T is accustomed to planning for the increased network traffic that occurs at large-scale events – like Razorback games – and typically will bring in temporary cell towers.” It looks like the Razorbacks aren’t the only people who know this is a big SEC clash against South Carolina.

Here is Collins’ message in full:

AT&T is constantly expanding and enhancing its network to deliver the best possible mobile experience for our customers, which is why we are adding an additional temporary cell tower outside of the stadium. As with most sporting events, there is an increase in wireless traffic during Razorback games. AT&T is accustomed to planning for the increased network traffic that occurs at large-scale events – like Razorback games – and typically will bring in temporary cell towers.

Thanks,

Natasha
